Introduction

This article covers the management operations available for virtual networks in Edge Infrastructure Services: viewing virtual network details and status, updating the configuration, and deleting virtual networks you no longer need.

Prerequisites

View a Virtual Network

  1. In the sidebar, click Infrastructure > Workloads > Virtual Networks.
  2. The list shows all virtual networks in your enterprise, along with their current state and other summary information.
  3. Click a virtual network name to open the detail page.
The detail page shows the following information in the ribbon at the top: State, Kind, IP assignment, Uptime, Uplink, and Used by. The detail page includes four tabs:
  • Overview: the current state, interfaces and routes, project and record information, and network settings.
  • Details: identity, and state and audit fields.
  • Configuration: the full configuration organized into sub-tabs for Network, Interfaces, Routes, and Bridge (available sub-tabs vary by virtual network type and what has been configured).
  • Used by: a list of application instances currently attached to this virtual network.
For a full description of each tab and field, see Virtual Network Details.

Update a Virtual Network

  1. In the sidebar, click Infrastructure > Workloads > Virtual Networks.
  2. Click the virtual network you want to update.
  3. On the detail page, click the Configure button (gear icon, tooltip: “Configure virtual network”) to open the configuration editor.
  4. Make your changes. For Local virtual networks, you can update the details, interface, IP settings, and routes. For Switch virtual networks, you can update the details and interface settings.
  5. Click Save Changes to apply the changes. A confirmation message appears when the update is successful.
Note: The virtual network Name cannot be changed after creation. To change the name, delete the virtual network and create a new one.

Delete a Virtual Network

Note: If the virtual network is attached to application instances, a confirmation dialog lists the affected applications. Confirm the deletion to proceed.
  1. In the sidebar, click Infrastructure > Workloads > Virtual Networks.
  2. Click the virtual network you want to delete.
  3. On the detail page, click the Delete button (tooltip: “Delete virtual network”).
  4. Confirm the deletion in the dialog that appears.
A confirmation message appears when the virtual network is deleted successfully.
