Offline mode lets a node continue running its edge applications without an active connection to Edge Infrastructure Services. This is different from deactivating a node. A node in offline mode remains operational and its applications keep running, as long as those applications do not themselves require cloud connectivity. Offline mode is also distinct from EVE-OS Airplane Mode, which disables all network interfaces at the EVE-OS level. Offline mode is configured using ZCLI. There is no console option for this setting.

Prerequisites

  • ZCLI running. See Get Started With ZCLI for authentication steps.
  • The name of the node you want to configure.

Enable Offline Mode

Run the following three commands in sequence. Replace <EDGE_NODE_NAME> with the name of your node. Disable network fallback. This prevents EVE-OS from attempting to fall back to any Ethernet interface when the primary uplink is unavailable.
Set the no-network reboot timer. This prevents EVE-OS from rebooting the node after a period without network connectivity. The value 315360000 is approximately 10 years, which effectively disables the timer.
Set the configuration checkpoint timer. This prevents EVE-OS from rolling back to a previous configuration checkpoint after a period without network connectivity. The value 315360000 effectively disables the rollback timer.

Verify the Result

After running the three commands, verify the node configuration:
Confirm that the network.fallback.any.eth, timer.reboot.no.network, and timer.use.config.checkpoint values reflect the settings you applied.
