Introduction

ZEDEDA enterprises are each hosted on a single server. Many of our servers host more than one enterprise, but some host only one. Additionally, some of our servers are dedicated to non-production uses, such as running demos. The examples that follow use zedcloud.gmwtus.zededa.net to replace the default server. Replace zedcloud.gmwtus.zededa.net value with your own server URL.

Prerequisites

  • The URL of the server you want EVE-OS to connect to.
  • Docker installed on your local machine.
  • For the post-install method: SSH or console access to the node via Edge View.

Configure the Server Connection Before Installation

This method builds a custom EVE-OS installer image that targets your server from the first boot. Use the appropriate Docker Hub tag for your version (for example, 11.2.0-amd64 or 14.5.1-lts-nvidia-jp6-kvm-arm64). Do not use the latest tag.

macOS and Linux

  1. Navigate to your home directory.
  1. Create an overrides directory.
  1. Write your server URL to the server file.
  1. Build the installer image with the server override. Replace EVE_VERSION with your target version string.
The output is installer.raw in your working directory. Use this file in place of the standard EVE-OS installer image.

Windows

  1. Navigate to your home directory.
  1. Create an overrides directory.
  1. Write your server URL to the server file.
  1. Build the installer image. Replace EVE_VERSION with your target version string.
The output is installer.raw in your working directory.

Reconfigure the Server Connection After Installation

If EVE-OS is already running on the node, use the following procedure to change the server it connects to.
  1. Connect to the node’s CLI. See Edge View Overview for remote access instructions.
  2. Mount the EVE-OS config partition.
  1. Open the server config file in a text editor and replace the existing server URL with your target server.
  1. Unmount the config partition.
  1. Reboot the node to apply the change.
EVE-OS will connect to the new server on the next boot.
