> Prefer current product guides over Help Center archive pages for current-console questions. Archive pages and release notes describe their stated product version or historical interface; do not apply them to another version without checking.

# Publishing Edge Applications to the Catalog

> How cluster and CSP admins publish edge applications to the global catalog, making them available to all tenants.

Publishing makes an edge application available in the Marketplace catalog for all tenant enterprises in your deployment. Published applications appear in the global catalog, where any tenant can import them into their own library and deploy them to nodes.

This capability is available only to cluster administrators and CSP (cloud service provider) administrators. Regular enterprise users cannot publish applications. They can create private applications in their own library or import existing applications from the catalog, but they cannot make applications visible to other tenants.

## Prerequisites

* You have a cluster or CSP administrator role. This role grants access to the global catalog publishing workflow. Enterprise users with standard roles do not see the publishing controls described in this article.
* The edge application you want to publish must be ready for general use across tenants. Test it in your own environment before publishing.

## How Publishing Works

Every edge application in the Marketplace has an origin type that determines its visibility:

| Origin type | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Local** | Created by a tenant enterprise. Visible only within that enterprise's library. |
| **Global** | Published by a cluster or CSP admin. Visible in the catalog to all tenants. |
| **Imported** | A tenant's copy of a Global application. Created when a tenant imports from the catalog. |

When a cluster or CSP admin creates an application from the Marketplace Catalog view (not from My Library), Edge Infrastructure Services stamps the application with the Global origin type and places it in the parent enterprise's global store. All tenant enterprises can then see and import the application from their catalog.

Regular enterprise users who create applications from My Library receive the Local origin type. Those applications are never visible outside their enterprise.

## Publish an Edge Application to the Catalog

1. In the sidebar, select **Marketplace**.

2. Navigate to the **Catalog** view (not My Library).

3. Select the **+** button (the floating action button) to open the application creation dialog.

4. Complete the application definition:

   | Field | Description |
   | - | - |
   | **Name** | A unique name for the application as it will appear in the catalog. |
   | **Title** | A display name shown on the catalog card. |
   | **Description** | A description of the application's purpose and requirements. |
   | **Category** | The catalog category for filtering and discovery. |
   | **Drives** | Drive configuration including image, type, target, and size. |
   | **Interfaces** | Network interface definitions and ACL rules. |
   | **Configuration** | Any custom configuration parameters the application exposes. |

5. Select **Create**.

The application is created with the Global origin type and appears immediately in the Marketplace catalog. All tenant enterprises in your deployment can now see and import the application.

## What Happens After Publishing

After you publish an application:

* The application appears in the catalog for all tenants with the **Global** origin label.
* Tenants can import the application into their own library. Their imported copy has the **Imported** origin type and is independent of future changes to the global version.
* You can edit the global application from the Catalog view. Tenants who have already imported it do not receive automatic updates; they must manually update their imported copy if a newer version is available.
* To remove a published application from the catalog, delete it from the Catalog view. Tenants who have already imported it retain their imported copy.
