# Delete an EVE-OS Image

> Delete an EVE-OS image from your enterprise with ZCLI after confirming it is not a default image or installed on a node. The datastore file is kept.

## Introduction

Deleting an EVE-OS image removes it from your enterprise's image list. Deleting an image from your enterprise does not delete the image file from the underlying datastore. You must remove it from the datastore separately if needed.

EVE-OS image deletion for a regular enterprise administrator is performed using ZCLI. There is no dedicated EVE-OS Images management page in the console for that role. Cloud-service and support administrators can also delete an image from the console EVE-OS Images page under Admin Dashboard > Images > EVE-OS Images.

## Prerequisites

* ZCLI running. See [Get Started With ZCLI](https://zededa.mintlify.site/zcli-reference/get-started.md) for authentication steps.
* The image you want to delete must not be currently set as a default image. If it is, set a different image as the default first. See [Manage Default EVE-OS Images](https://zededa.mintlify.site/new-ui/infrastructure-services/eve-os-management/manage-default-eve-os-images.md).
* The image must not be installed on any node in your enterprise. An image currently deployed to a node cannot be deleted.

## Delete an EVE-OS Image

1. Log in to ZCLI. See [Get Started With ZCLI](https://zededa.mintlify.site/zcli-reference/get-started.md) for authentication steps.
2. Delete the target image. You are prompted to confirm the operation.

```text theme={"dark"}
zcli image delete IMAGE_NAME
```

3. Enter `y` to confirm the deletion, or `N` to cancel.
