# Manage a Datastore

> View datastore details and dependents, update connection details, credentials, and project scope, or delete a datastore that is no longer in use.

## Introduction

This procedure explains how to view, update, and delete datastore objects in Edge Infrastructure Services. Use this guide after you have created a datastore and need to modify its connection details, credentials, or project scope, or when you need to remove a datastore that is no longer in use.

### Prerequisites

* You have the SysManager or SysAdmin role in your enterprise. See [Manage Roles](https://zededa.mintlify.site/new-ui/infrastructure-services/administration/manage-roles.md).
* At least one datastore created in your enterprise. See [Create a Datastore](https://zededa.mintlify.site/new-ui/infrastructure-services/datastores/create-a-datastore.md).

## View a Datastore

1. In the sidebar, click **Infrastructure > Fleet > Datastores**.
2. The **Datastores** list shows all datastores in your enterprise, with status indicators showing whether each is **In use** or **Idle**.
3. Click a datastore name to open its detail page.

The detail page has four tabs:

* **Overview**: A summary of the datastore including type, endpoint, project access, dependents, and recent activity.
* **Details**: Identity fields (ID, name, title, type, origin), state and timeline, and project access scope.
* **Configuration**: Endpoint address, FQDN, path, region, and credential information.
* **Used by**: App images, edge apps, and projects that reference this datastore.

## Update a Datastore

You can update a datastore's title, description, connection details, credentials, and project scope. The datastore name cannot be changed after creation.

You can open the configuration from the list page or from the datastore detail page.

**From the list page:**

1. In the sidebar, click **Infrastructure > Fleet > Datastores**.
2. Hover over the row of the datastore you want to update. A **Configure** (gear) icon appears on the right side of the row.
3. Click the **Configure** icon. A configuration dialog opens over the list.
4. In the **Configure Datastore** dialog, edit the fields you want to change. The dialog has two sub-tabs:
   * **Details**: Update the **Title**, **Description**, **FQDN**, **Path**, and **Region** fields.
   * **Configuration**: Update the **Project Scope** and **Credentials** (API key or username and password, depending on the datastore type).
5. Click **Save**.

**From the detail page:**

1. In the sidebar, click **Infrastructure > Fleet > Datastores**.
2. Click the datastore you want to update to open its detail page.
3. In the upper right of the detail page, click the **Configure** (gear) button.
4. In the **Configure Datastore** dialog, edit the fields you want to change.
5. Click **Save**.

### Verify the update

After saving, confirm that the **Configuration** tab on the detail page shows the correct endpoint and the **Details** tab shows the updated title and description.

## Delete a Datastore

You can delete a datastore only when it has no dependent objects referencing it. If any app images or edge apps reference the datastore, you must remove or reassign those dependencies first.

1. In the sidebar, click **Infrastructure > Fleet > Datastores**.
2. Click the datastore you want to delete.
3. In the upper right of the detail page, click the **Delete** (trash) button.
4. Review the dependencies listed in the confirmation dialog. If dependent objects are shown, the deletion cannot proceed until those objects are removed.
5. If no blocking dependencies exist, click **Confirm** to delete the datastore.

After deletion, Edge Infrastructure Services returns you to the **Datastores** list and removes the datastore from the list.
