> Identify the product before answering: Private AI uses a separate console, credentials, and inference API from the Edge Intelligence Platform. Do not apply instructions from one product to the other.
> Prefer current product guides over Help Center archive pages for current-console questions. Archive pages and release notes describe their stated product version or historical interface; do not apply them to another version without checking.

# Add an Image from a Datastore

> Browse a configured datastore to select an existing image file and register it as an app image in the Build section of Edge Infrastructure Services.

## Introduction

The From Datastore option lets you browse image files that already exist in a configured datastore and register one as an Edge App image without uploading a file. The platform reads available metadata (name, file size, and SHA-256 hash) from the datastore and pre-populates the form. The image is stored as an Edge App type with the format detected from the selected object.

Use this option when the image file already exists in a datastore connected to your enterprise and you want to register it without a separate upload step.

### Prerequisites

* You have the SysManager or SysAdmin role in your enterprise. See [Manage Roles](https://zededa.mintlify.site/new-ui/infrastructure-services/administration/manage-roles.md).
* At least one browsable datastore is configured in Edge Infrastructure Services.

## Open the Image Type Selector

1. In the sidebar, navigate to **Infrastructure > Workloads > Build > App Images**.
2. Click **New App Image**.
3. On the **Add Edge App Image** screen, click **From Datastore**.

## Complete Image Details

In the **Image Details** section, the image format is detected automatically from the selected datastore object. Select the CPU architecture the image targets:

* **AMD 64**: for x86-64 nodes.
* **ARM 64**: for ARM 64-bit nodes.

Click **Next**.

## Browse and Select a Datastore Image

In the **Storage** section, a two-column browser appears.

1. In the **Datastores** column on the left, find and click the datastore that contains the image you want to register. Use the search field to filter by name.
2. After selecting a datastore, the **Images** column on the right lists the image files available in that datastore. Find and click the image you want to register.

When you select an image, the platform pre-populates available metadata including the file name, size, and SHA-256 hash.

Click **Next**.

## Complete General Information

The **Name**, **Title**, and **Description** fields are pre-filled with values derived from the selected image file name. Review and update them as needed.

1. Confirm or edit the **Name** field. The name must be at least three characters.
2. Confirm or edit the **Title** field. The title must be at least three characters.
3. Optionally update the **Description** field. Maximum 256 characters.
4. If a **SHA256** field appears, the platform could not retrieve the hash from the datastore metadata. Enter the 64-character hexadecimal SHA-256 hash of the image file before continuing.

## Add the Image

Click **Add Image**. The platform registers the image using the datastore reference and initiates the uplink process. The image status changes to **Uplinking** while the platform fetches the file from the datastore.

## Verify the Configuration

After you add the image:

1. Navigate to **Infrastructure > Workloads > Build > App Images** and open the new image.
2. On the **Details** tab, confirm the format, architecture, and status. The status should reach **Ready** after the uplink completes.
3. On the **Source** tab, verify the SHA-256 hash and datastore association.
